The pre-school will accommodate 36 children ages 1-5, and will include an office, staff room, children's & staff toilets, a 'messy play' area, baby changing area, kitchen and a storage & plant room.
Large low level windows will allow in natural light and views whilst patio doors out into a small playground will allow the ‘Free-flow’ of children in and out of the building onto a covered play area.
Features include a vaulted roof to enable a well ventilated, naturally lit main play area with automatically controlled roof lights on the northern roof pitch and a sedum roof to encourage wildlife and be sympathetic within the landscape character of the site. The building will be cladded with locally grown timber.
The building has been designed to offer children and adult users a naturally illuminated, stimulating environment, which will stand the test of time and could be used comfortably for other community activities.
