| Corfe Castle preschool represents ecofab's third project on-site. Although taking longer to assemble on-site than Bosvigo children's Centre, Truro, Cornwall, the Corfe Castle preschool is far larger (155 square metres internally) Corfe Castle preschool represents an amazing achievement in speed, efficiency and design. |
| The preschool had been raising funds for the new building since the planning permission was granted in November 2007. This funding reached the level whereby the building could be commissioned at the beginning of July 2008. The go-ahead was given to ecofab to commence fabrication and to a local contractor, ‘Mark Dack building and dry lining’ to commence site preparations in the second week of July 2008 with a view to completing the assembly of the building on site by the 2nd of September 2008 at the very latest as the school returned on the 3rd September . |
| Local contractor, Mark Dack, has continued to complete the building utilising sustainable materials such as western red cedar shingles on the pitch roofs, locally grown larch profiled cladding supplied by Tino Rawnsley and local joinery by G&H Joinery, Bournemouth. |
| The building has already attracted attention from Purbeck District Council and Dorset County Council both of whom have sent delegations to view the building under construction. The second phase including demolition of the existing preschool is due to start during the coming half term (October 2008) with likely completion in early December 2008. |
